CranioSomatic Foundations Workshops
CranioSomatic Foundations is a 4-day program, generally presented in either two 2-day workshops (CSF-1 and CSF-2) or one 4-day intensive (CSF-4D), depending on location. A special 3-day intensive (CSF-3D) can also be arranged. Pre-requisites for the CSF program are: Licensed healthcare professional or consent of the instructor.
The craniosomatic Foundation program is based on the CranioSomatics concept that alterations in the position and function of the osseous and soft tissue components of the cranial mechanism are reflected in identifiable and predictable compensatory musculoskeletal responses throughout the body. These workshops present the anatomy, physiology, and craniosacral concepts necessary for participants to apply the sutural release procedures presented in CSF-1 and the sphenobasilar strain pattern releases presented in CSF-2. Participants also learn how sutural restrictions and sphenobasilar strain patterns affect posture and musculoskeletal function throughout the body.
CranioSomatic Foundations-1 (CSF-1)
Sutural Releases
This first 2-day workshop of the Foundation series provides an essential foundation in cranial anatomy and physiology, with a focus on identifying and releasing sutural restrictions. Participants develop the knowledge and skills to locate and release sutural restrictions occurring in the cranial vault and facial region. Sutural restrictions are correlated with specific patterns of muscle weakness (inhibition) and postural changes. Participants learn to apply AK techniques to identify sutural restrictions, to make the appropriate cranial corrections, and to use post-tests to confirm that muscle function has been restored. Participants will be able to incorporate cranial sutural techniques, AK evaluation procedures and CranioSomatic concepts into their practice at the completion of this first workshop.
CranioSomatic Foundations-2 (CSF-2)
SBS Patterns
This second 2-day workshop of the Foundation series continues to build on the knowledge and skills acquired in CSF-1. It provides more depth and detail in cranial anatomy and physiology, with a focus on providing participants with the knowledge and skills to identify and release the ten sphenobasilar strain patterns and other cranial dysfunctions. These patterns are correlated with both sutural restrictions and global patterns of postural and musculoskeletal compensation. The AK techniques presented in CSF-1 are applied here in the pre- and post-testing of the sphenobasilar strains and their global compensatory patterns. This workshop also includes more advanced vault and facial treatment techniques. By the end of the second workshop, participants will have the skills to effectively treat sphenobasilar strain patterns. They will also have more extensive knowledge of the global relationships between cranial and somatic function and be able to apply this knowledge in clinical practice to benefit their patients. Clinical experience applying the strain pattern releases is a prerequisite for the CranioStructural Integration workshops.
